The Anson County Writers' Club had a booth at People Fest Oct. 8, 2011. The club sold anthologies of their contest winners, published every three years since 1989. Here I am holding up a copy of "Angels Unaware" and my writing partner, Elbert Marshall, shows off a copy of "Plotz." It was a fun day, but I wish someone had told me to run a comb through my hair first.

This is a picture of the window in the Anson County Arts Council gallery Catherine Crandell and Leslie Capel put together prior to the "Second Sunday" reception in September, where I was one of the featured artists. I'm glad I got this picture, as the window has been redone several times since then.

Angels Unaware

"With strong characters and with great sensitivity, Bruney has written a moving story of a woman facing her deepest fears and emerging victorious. It has lessons that every woman needs to learn.
Helen Goodman is the author of Jess, Murder in Eden, Toxic Waste, Murder and Misdeeds, The Blue Goose is Dead and Valley of Death

"Heroine Kat Knightly has always let her husband Jordan manage their life together. It's easier that way. Expressing her own opinions simply isn't part of their marriage, not if she wants to keep things running smoothly and avoid displeasing her overbearing husband. Then Kat discovers she has breast cancer and now, when she really needs Jordan, he isn't there for her."
L.C. Evans is the author of We Interrupt This Date, Talented Horsewoman, Jobless Recovery and Night Camp.

"This is a well-crafted book, in which Ms Bruney's acute observations of small-town social structure are not background; those observations are the fuel that propels the plot."
Legends-and-Facts

"A truly remarkable and realistic look at breast cancer and the resources available to help survivors conquer this disease. A must-read book for women of all ages."
L. Stuart

Plotz

"If you like suspense, you must read this one. (J.R.)

"Elbert Marshall and Sandy Bruney have created two engaging characters in Phae and Emerson ... Bringing these two characters together is an inspired concept. When they and their problems intersect at a campground south of Raleigh, it is an event filled with lots of drama, misunderstanding, and legal jeopardy." (C.D.)

"As it slowly builds, so does our tension. These two writers have come up with a great idea and penned it to paper ... The ending is worth the thrill ride!" (L.P.)

"...your novel is first class writing...the kind of book that one can't put down til they finish it. I liked Plotz so much that I'm ordering four more copies to give as gifts to some high school friends." (A.H.)

"The ending is not what you'd expect and I loved it! Good writing--couldn't figure out how they were going to get out of the situation and, if so, how it would resolve." (C.C.)
